Poetry

I fell back in love with writing poetry in 2022 while writing for catharsis, and his style and subject matter continue to evolve. To hone my craft I attend poetry review meetups and retreats including a wonderful poetry Masterclass with Carol Ann Duffy and Gillian Clarke in the Tŷ Newydd writing centre, 2023. I live in Dublin with my wife, a puppy and a houseful of writer’s block distractions.

As of July 2024, six of my poems have been published. My poem ‘Making the bed’ was published in Irish magazine ‘The Storms’ in 2023 and my poem ‘A song on the radio’ appears in ‘Masculinity: an anthology of modern voices‘ from Broken Sleep Books, published in January 2024. My poem ‘To my right hand’ appeared in a zine entitled ‘Body positivity‘ from Coin-Operated Press in February 2024 and the poem ‘Fingernails’ was published and read in episode 22 of ‘Poetry worth hearing’ in March 2024 – and appears in the summer 2024 issue of ‘Inside Out’, the IAHIP journal. The first issue of ‘Ragaire’ magazine in May 2024 contains my poem ‘tooth’. My poem ‘Almost an apology’ was published as a featured poem in ‘Into creative’ online magazine, in July 2024. You can read it here.

Two more will be published this summer. The poem ‘Disabled’ has been accepted for publication by HNDL magazine for publication in summer 2024. The poem ‘In the presence of the remains of Saint Valentine’ was selected for publication in issue 100 of Dreich magazine in summer 2024.

This poem appeared in the ‘The Storms‘, issue 2, February 2023.
